I always find it helpful to make 2 or 3 dishes on Sunday. That way, during the week, I have ‘go-to’ food in the fridge for immediate hunger. You don’t want to arrive home from work starving and have nothing ready.
When you go to the grocery store, have a detailed list in hand. If you have ingredients at home to cook healthy food, then you will eat healthy food!
Don’t Buy What You Don’t Want To Eat
I don’t know about you, but if it’s in my house, I’ll eat it! So make sure you only have in your home what you want to eat. Don’t tempt yourself with what you can’t resist by having it in the house. Just don’t buy it.
Visit Your Local Health Store
Go and say ‘hi’ to the people working at your local health store. They are a wealth of information! And get to know the different items (food & supplements) that are available at the health store. Getting healthy usually means you’ll be shopping at a couple of locations; one being your local health store. So wander in and get to know this exciting new world!
Don’t skip breakfast
Yes, your mother was right. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast skippers tend to eat more food than usual at the next meal or nibble on high-calorie snacks to ward off hunger. Eating a healthy breakfast will reduce hunger throughout the day, and help you make better food choices at other meals.
Always include protein at breakfast
It’s important to include protein at breakfast. Protein will help you feel full and satisfied, and less hungry. It does this in two ways: by slowing the rise in blood sugar and by staying in your stomach for longer because it takes the body longer to digest it.
Enjoy the process!
Please don’t think about what you can’t eat and drink, but instead about what you CAN eat and drink! You will discover new recipes and foods, and you will learn a lot about yourself and your body. Enjoy the ride to a vibrant and energetic you!
